Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Running Cat ("the App", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our app, available on iOS.

1. Information We Collect

Location Data

• GPS coordinates collected during active run sessions to calculate distance, route, and pace
• Location data is used only during an active session and is not transmitted to our servers
• You can revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings

Health & Fitness Data

• Run distance, duration, pace, and speed — stored locally on your device
• Step count and activity data via Apple HealthKit (if you grant permission)

Automatically Collected Data

• Crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics — device model, OS version, app version, and stack trace at time of crash
• Usage analytics via Firebase Analytics — session duration, screen views, and general in-app events (no personally identifiable information)

2. Advertising

The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

On iOS, we request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) authorization before serving personalized ads. If you decline, non-personalized ads will be shown.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To track and display your run stats within the app
• To calculate pace, speed, and distance during active sessions
• To diagnose crashes and improve app stability
• To understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the app experience
• To serve advertisements that help fund free access to the app

4. HealthKit

Running Cat may read from and write to Apple HealthKit with your permission. Health data accessed via HealthKit is used solely to display your fitness information within the app and is never shared with third parties or used for advertising purposes.

5. Data Storage and Security

Run history and settings are stored locally on your device in the app's sandboxed storage. No personal run data is transmitted to our servers. Data is not accessible by other apps.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

We share data only with the following service providers, strictly for operating the app:

• Google Firebase — crash reporting and analytics
• Google AdMob — in-app advertising

7. Children's Privacy

Running Cat is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

You may at any time:

• Revoke location permission — go to iOS Settings → Running Cat → Location and set to Never
• Revoke HealthKit permission — go to iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Running Cat
• Clear local data — uninstall the app to remove all locally stored run history
• Opt out of personalized ads — use your device's ad settings or decline ATT prompt

9. Data Retention

Run history and settings are retained locally on your device until the app is uninstalled. Crash reports and analytics data are retained according to Google Firebase's default retention policies (90 days for Analytics, 90 days for Crashlytics).

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
